“Don’t ‘should’ on yourself”
I am fragile today. It happens.
A friend suggested it isn’t healthy to “should” on myself. She also suggested a trick she heard someone else use when they scold themselves for something they “should” have said or done….or “should not” have done or wish they would have done differently. The past is the past, and we can not control others’ behavior. Only our own. And today.
Here is the trick: Wear a hair or rubber band on your wrist and give a little snap when you “should” on yourself.
I will continue to heal, work, practice, embrace, release and grieve. All in time.
And a few healthy snaps on the wrist from time to time so not to “should” on myself.
